In celebration of Halloween I had purchased two books with the Halloween spirit. The first one is The Hallo-wiener. (Yes, I’m still on the dog theme, and I somehow think it will take me awhile to get off it.
) The second one is The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything. (What a title huh?)
The outcome is a little surprising as I thought our child would like The Hallo-wiener. Cute story about a dog with issues who overcomes.
Instead, The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything is now the favorite to snuggle up and read. Interaction (aka repeating of the sounds) included!
There is another point to this post. I have no visual proof – at least not now – but MSO has carved the pumpkin! He dutifully (hah) took my suggestion and carved it just like the pumpkin head in The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything while I was making treat bags for the children.
He did forget the ears though. MSO said “What pumpkin has ears?!” I said the one in the book does. How else did the little old lady whisper to the pumpkin head?
Happy Halloween!
